Located in the up-and-coming downtown harbor district, the Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik Marina is not just another hotel in Reykjavik. The Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik Marina - which opened in the spring of 2012 - is probably the only hotel in the world where you can almost touch the huge vessels in the dry-dock as the main entrance of the hotel is on the north side of the hotel.
This hotel strives to deliver a more authentic Reykjavik experience, by synthesizing the city’s rich maritime history with its colourful, vibrant and modern present day culture.
Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik Marina, which is just a stone’s throw from the capital’s attractions, is situated in a completely renovated four-story building that has become a landmark among local residents as it is located next to the historical, and still fully functioning, dry-dock called Slippur. With an emphasis on blending the dynamic, creative atmosphere of this rapidly developing district with the country’s strong fishing traditions, the Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik Marina offers everyone the opportunity to see and experience the capital at its most creative and colourful.
Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik Marina offers colorful and quirky design both inside and out. The lobby and other common areas are bright and whimsical, and feature colourful wallpaper, locally-sourced antiques and other fanciful odds and ends – bland and uniform it is not. But, the hotel also strives to be warm and inviting and features lots of comfortable, cozy seating and other private areas as well as a large fireplace.
Other amenities include a tour booking service at the front desk, a canteen (open 24 hours), a delicious and affordable menu and at Slippur bar you have an extensive menu of wine and coktails. The hotel also features a small theater where you can watch Icelandic films (with English subtitles) and a nice gym so you can work off all the tasty Icelandic treats you’ll be eating.
